While in Costa Rica and especially Tres Equis, it was obvious that Costa Ricans didn't have as many things as people in the US did; part of this has to do with it being a much less materialistic society, and some has to do with them not having as much money. While in Tres Equis, we traveled to two places to help out as a group. The first place we traveled to was a finca, which is a small, locally owned farm. The finca that we traveled to was a coffee plantation. While we were there, we helped plant small trees, and managed to help with over 300 bags! We also traveled to a school that was outside of Tres Equis. One of the reasons that we helped out at the school was that there were only six kids and one teacher attending it. However, if more kids came, then the government would provide more funding, and more kids will come if the school is in better condition. Overall, I think that both of these were eye-opening experiences, but still fun because you knew that you were making a huge impact on many people's lives.
